| Scientific studies on spiritual healing Spiritual healing on men There
are various studies, dissertations and other scientific publications
which all come to the conclusion that spiritual healing is effective
with statistical significance and that the results are repeatable. At
the "Healing Science International Research Institute” in
Orinda/California, for example, cuts of equal size were made by
physicians on the arms of 44 voluntary test persons. In the course of
the following sixteen days, each test person had to sit behind a
non-transparent screening every day and to hold his wounded arm through
a hole. They were told it was a test related to bioelectrical changes
of the skin after surgery. But in reality, 23 of these persons sat
opposed to a healer whom they could not see and who had to concentrate
on the closure of wounds and transfer the persons healing energy
without touching them. 21 other test persons of a reference group were
not treated by the healer. Result: after only eight days, the size of
the wounds of the group of treated persons was reduced by 93.5% on
average compared to the reference group with a reduction of only 67.3%.
At the end of the test, the result was 99.3% and 90.9%. 13 of the 23
treated wounds were closed completely, whilst the wounds of none of the
persons in the reference group were closed completely. EEG-tests
made on 46 epileptics treated by Dr. Jerzy Rejmer at the Warsaw Iziz
hospital proved that cramping attacks were delayed, dampened or less
frequent in all cases under the influence of the treatment. When reviewing the publication made by Dr. Daniel Benor - "Healing Research", Helix/Munich 1992, one can find more than 150 experiments with up to 250 test persons suffering from diseases such as high blood pressure, asthma, short-sightedness, leucemia, epilepsy, post-surgery pain or migraine. About half of the test results clearly proved the positive effect of spiritual healing with statistical significance. Effects of absent healing can be proven in an EEG Tests
with absent healing made at the Stuttgart Institute for Communication
and Brain Research clearly showed that not only the laying on of hands
but also absent healing can be seen in the test persons’ EEG. The
electrical activities of the brain followed the efforts of a healer
visibly. For instance, the brain activity in the delta-wave range
undergoes a sudden increase after absent healing starting and also
stops abruptly after finishing. This phenomenon could be observed also,
if the test person did not know at which time he or she was treated.
The same results obtained in a study made by Dr. Alexander Raisin in
Russia confirmed these findings. Spiritual healing on animals Tests
made with animals proved that animals also respond to spiritual
healing, which invalidates the frequently heard argument that the
benefits of spiritual healing are due to a placebo effect, or
suggestibility. Spiritual healing on plants Tests with cereals, seeds, grains and mushrooms are documented. In
1989, a London University research group directed by physiology
lecturers Anthony Scofield and David Hodges proved that the energy of a
spiritual healer, in this cases Geoffrey Boltwood, can have the effect
of protecting plants against toxic substances. Moreover, there are
various growth tests which prove that spiritual healing can accelerate
the growth of plants (A.M.Scofield/R.D. Hodges:"Demonstration of a
Healing Effect in the Laboratory Using al Simple Plant Model", Journal
of the Society for Psychical) Spiritual healing and cells Various
studies, which were made with unicellular organisms, bacteria, isolated
cell components and tumour cells, also showed a noticeable effect of
spiritual healing. Studies on absent healing During
the past ten years, a number of experiments with absent treatment by
spiritual healers were made under control by scientists in England, in
particular. All these investigations showed that an effect can be
proven, even if the treated person did not have knowledge of it. The
so far most expensive test related to absent healing in Europe,
realized by a team of nine medical persons and psychologists, included
290 chronically ill patients and 50 healers in total. The results speak
a clear language: in addition to an improvement of the psychical
condition and life quality of patients, the physical troubles could
also be relieved significantly. Scientist from several universities and
private research institutes participated in this study, which was
finished in March 1999. |
